VOLCOM STONE’S SWORDFISH SURF SERIES
BALIAN BEACH – BALI

Balian Beach that is only 2.5 hours ride from Kuta was cold and quite when we arrived at 6 am, but a huge turnout shown at the next hour… kids come out ready to surf. Groms Division started the day with fun, sunny and 2 ft waves of Balian Beach. Azwar Anas’ brothers, Abi and Rizal, could not battle Dwi Marnox who was so lucky coz got better wave.

Everyone in Junior Division had a strong heat, but they were Medewi’s best groms, Muklis Anwar and Ahmad Kamal who ripping hard in final. Muklis took 1st winner with his perfect run house cutback and strong power maneuvers.

In the Pro-Am final, Herman had to battle Agus Setiadi hard, the two battled it out during 15 minutes final, but at the end Herman edged out Agus to walk away with the 1st prize: cash money, Volcom backpack, t-shirts, cap, etc.

Kids enjoy free traditional lunch, delicious nasi bungkus – rice wrapped in banana leaf – and then Switra, our team manager, lead a fun game to the local Balian people to clean up the beach from plastic trash. What a wise and educating exercise! It’s fun and great job … makes people be friendlier to nature …. makes everybody happy.
