The Blowfish portion of the VQS tour kicked off this past weekend in Oceanside, Ca. We reached the beach early in the dark and weren’t sure if we should cancel, thinking no one would show due to the weather. When the sun began to creep through the clouds we saw that there was solid 4-6 ft surf with perfect offshore winds and nearly 200 competitors waiting to sign up, the decision was a no brainer! The rain broke in the morning and we sent the Juniors into the pumping conditions and we were off and running! Check out the whole days events below.
Although the forecast called for rain and south winds, the conditions stayed favorable for a better part of the day!
After surfing through 72 competitors in the Pro-Am division, Gabe Garcia took the victory for the second year in a row!
Once again the VQS Blowfish event was blessed with fun waves!
Even with strong SE winds, there was still plenty of punts going down.
With over 200 competitors showing up for the event, there was still plenty of waves to go around for everyone.
